In 1931, childhood friends Walter Fredenhagen and Earl Prince teamed up and established Prince Castle ice cream stores in Naperville, IL. In 1955, the partnership ended, and Fredenhagen renamed his stores “Cock Robin.” Cock Robin continued to offer “One In A Million” malted milkshakes, iconic square-scooped ice cream cones, and “The Big One” steak burgers. Their motto, “Where memories are made,” left a lasting impression.

The last Cock Robin closed in Brookfield, IL in 2008 and, like many birds, Cock Robin migrated west under new ownership to The Barlow in Sebastopol, CA.
